Shubman Gill was penalized after Gujarat Titans maintained a slow pace in their IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday, April 8 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. As it was his team’s first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, Gill was fined INR 12 thousand.
“Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill has been fined after his team sustained a slow re-evaluation during TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match #14 against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi,” the IPL media advisor said.
“Since this was his team’s first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over rates, Gill was fined INR 12 million,” he added.
Gill became the second captain to be fined this season after Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer, who has already been penalized twice for the same overcharging offence. Gill also led from the front with a 45-ball 70, hitting four fours and five sixes as the Titans edged out the Capitals by one run.
