Punjab Kings and skipper Shreyas Iyer scripted unwanted T20 records after another brutal bowling performance saw them concede 222 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a crucial IPL 2026 clash on Sunday. Most awarded 200 or more in men’s T20 cricket46 – PBKS40 – RCB35 – DC34 – RR34 – SRH33 – MiddlesexThe heavy total further revealed PBKS’ struggles with the ball this season. They have now taken 200-plus totals 46 times in men’s T20 cricket, the most by any team in the format’s history. RCB is second in the list with 40 such cases, while Delhi Capitals follow with 35.The latest hammering also pushed Punjab Kings to another unwanted milestone. In IPL 2026 alone, they have now scored 200-plus nine times, the most by any team in the men’s only T20 competition. Most 200+ totals scored under a captain (Men’s T20)31 – Shreyas Iyer29 – Faf du Plessis28 – MS Dhoni21 – Babar Azam20 – Rishabh PantStatistically, the night was even more painful for Shreyas Iyer. The PBKS captain now holds the record for most 200-plus totals conceded by a captain in men’s T20 cricket with 31, moving further ahead of former RCB captain Faf du Plessis on 29 and MS Dhoni on 28.Once again, the Punjab bowlers failed to contain the opposition batting line-up on a batting surface. Virat Kohli laid the platform with a fluent 58 off 37 balls while Devdutt Padikkal struck for 45 off 25 deliveries during an aggressive second-wicket stand. However, it was Venkatesh Iyer who completely shifted the momentum in RCB’s favour. The left-hander blasted an unbeaten 73 off just 40 balls and attacked both pace and spin with ease as Punjab’s attack once again lost control. Tim David added more damage with a brutal cameo of 28 off 12 balls in the death overs. In a game the PBKS desperately needed to win to stay alive in the playoffs, another costly outing with the ball only compounded their problems and added another unwanted record to an increasingly difficult season.
If given a choice, which bowler would you pick to bolster the PBKS bowling line-up?
