The Indian Premier League’s annual pilgrimage to the mountains is reaching a critical juncture for the Punjab Kings. As the fog settles over the Dhauladhar range, Shreyas Iyer’s men find themselves at a crossroads. After a great start to the 2026 campaign, winning six of their first seven games, the wheels were in danger of falling off with three defeats in a row. “”In the last game we were disappointed with our catching. If we take those catches, we could probably limit them to a little over 220 and come out on top in this game. It’s a bit of a hiccup but I think any team that thinks they’re going to go through this tournament and sail all the way for two months and not lose cricket is kidding themselves. I think our tournament starts now for us,” Punjab Kings assistant coach James Hoopes said.

2. Motivation Deficit Delhi: With their playoff hopes all but extinguished, the Capitals need to find a reason to fight. The lack of consistency in their top order, including KL Rahul, was their undoing. Whether they can summon the spirit to thwart Punjab’s ambitions will depend on the senior pros in the underground.
