IPL Trophy (photo: IPL/BCCI) NEW DELHI: The IPL 2026 mini-auction is likely to take place in Abu Dhabi in the third week of December. It is reliably learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has fixed the date for the event on 15-16 December and will continue to be held overseas for the third year.The last two IPL auctions were held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Dubai and this year it will be Abu Dhabi’s turn to host the franchises as they look to fill the holes ahead of the upcoming IPL season. There have been discussions about holding the auction in India, but the trend of holding it overseas will continue for now.
Sanju Samson IPL deal: How conversations moved from DC to CSK to include Ravindra Jadeja
The deadline to complete the retention for the 10 teams is November 15 and the landmark trade between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals is nearing completion. It is in its final stages right now and is likely to be announced soon. Sanju Samson is all set to shift base to CSK while RR will have the services of Ravindra Jadeja from next season. RR were in talks with several franchises to move Samson and after talks with DC ended abruptly, the team was in constant touch with CSK. As for the Women’s Premier League, the auction will be held in Delhi on November 27. The franchises have already announced their retention and are set to finalize the lineups in the auction later this month.
