In 10 games, Overton took 14 wickets and scored 136 runs, proving to be a key overseas option in a campaign already blighted by numerous injuries.

Jamie Overton opens up on CSK’s comeback and bowling role“Jamie Overton has a right thigh injury and will return to the UK for further assessment and treatment,” CSK said in a statement on Wednesday. The update comes at a difficult time for the five-time champions, who are still in the playoffs but are still losing players at an alarming rate.
Another failure due to injury for ČSK
Overton is the latest addition to a growing list of unavailable players. Earlier on Wednesday, CSK announced the signing of Macneil Noronha as a replacement for injured all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh. The franchise has already lost Ayush Mhatre and Khaleel Ahmed midway through the season, while Australian quick Nathan Ellis has not played at all. Fellow Australian Spencer Johnson also remained unavailable for much of the campaign. While former MS captain Dhoni has missed the entire season so far due to a calf problem. Hopes of his return rose briefly on Wednesday after reports suggested he was booked to travel with the team to Lucknow, but those hopes were dashed after he ultimately did not make the trip.CSK have shown resilience despite setbacks and remain in contention for a playoff spot. But Overton’s departure will leave a new hole in their balance, especially given his impact with the new ball and lower-order hitting. With every match now carrying playoff implications, CSK’s challenge is no longer just about results – it is also about surviving the injury crisis.
