This season, Parag became the second captain who faced such a fine, after the Bombai Indian Hardy Pandyi, who was punished on Saturday after their match against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, where he suffered a 36-run defeat.
The BCCI has made new regulations for the current season for violation of the excess rate. The captains will no longer face the prohibition of matches, but will receive demeritic points on the basis of the seriousness of crimes. This change follows Hardik’s ban on one match in 2024, which made him Miss Mumbai’s season against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025.
In the match against CSK, Rajasthan Royals secured a key victory. Sri Lankan Spinner Waninda Hasarang played a key role and claimed 4 goals for 35 runs and revealed Chennai’s weakness against spin bowling.
