RISHABH PANT AND ROHIT SHARMA In any sport, big money does not always guarantee great performance – and the Indian Premier League (IPL) is no exception. Every year, massive auction prices will catch expectations of subtitles and fans of fuel fans, but by the middle of the season the number often tells a different story.
The IPL 2025 edition was followed by last year’s mega auction, where franchises crushed record amounts to build their platoon. Buzz around the best purchases was high-borne and fans carefully watched whether these investments were paying.
Now in the middle of the league phase, when all ten teams played at least seven of their 14 matches, it is time to judge the show of the most expensive stars of the tournament.
Here is a view of the top five insufficiently powerful players among the Marquee IPL 2025 players:
1. Rishabh pant (Lucknow Super Giants – Rs 27 crore)
The highest price tag in IPL history brought Rishabh Pant to Lucknow Super Giants along with immense expectations. The Indian goalkeeper was inspired by an inspiring return after an almost fatal traffic accident last season, and his strong performance with Delhi capital made him a hot selection. LSG also gave him the duties of the captain, expecting management and running.
While the team is doing well – at the moment the fourth on the table with five wins in eight matches – Pant’s personal appearance is worn. He gained only 106 runs in seven shifts for a depressed diameter of 15.14 and a strike rate below 100.

2. Venkatesh iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders – Rs 23.75 crore)
Kolkata Knight riders stunned a lot by firing RS 23.75 Crore to regain Venkatesha Iyer, whom they did not preserve. But in the middle of the season, gambling appears to be shaken.
The KKR was inconsistent and sat in sixth place on the table with only three wins from seven games. Iyer was also irregular – a few good knocks, including fifty, but not anything else. His strike 155,12 is healthy, but with only 121 runs out of five shifts, the kind of impact expected from the best purchase has to make.
Statistics: M: 7 | I: 5 | R: 121 | HS: 60 | AVG: 24.20 | SR: 155,12 | 50s: 1

Which player with insufficient performance do you think has the best chance to turn the season?
3. Rashid Khan (Gujarat titans – Rs 18 crore)
The Rashid Khan, known as one of the best T20 pitching, was a consistent match winner in previous seasons. Leave Gujarat Titans for Rs 18 Crore – more than captain SHUBMAN GILL – was expected to be Rashid’s bowling head.
However, the Afghan feet had an unusually quiet season. He managed only four goals in seven games on average 63.25 and an economic rate of 9.73. While GT worked well as a unit and sat on the table table, Rashid’s shortage of penetration remains a problem facing the business end.
Statistics: M: 7 | W: 4 | BBI: 2/37 | AVG: 63,25 | ECON: 9.73 | SR: 39.00
4. Pat cummins (Sunrisers Hyderabad – Rs 18 crore)
Pat Cummins, who kept the Crore RS 18 after the lead of SRH to the final of last season, had a tough trip this year. Under his captain SRH managed only two wins from seven matches, currently sitting ninth in the ranking.
Cummins raised seven goals, but its economic rate of 10.21 was alarming. While he impressed the magic of 3/26 against the Indians in Mumbai, such performances were rare. With the hope of SRH PLAY -OFF, it shrinks, their captain is inspired by a turn.
Statistics: M: 7 | W: 7 | BBI: 3/26 | AVG: 36,00 | ECON: 10,21 | SR: 21.14
5. Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians – Rs 16.30 crore)
Knock 76 Rohit Sharma against Chennai Super Kings showed the flashes of his brilliance, but the overall picture remains stunning. With the exception of these shifts, only 82 runs in six trips scored – not ideal for the opener of his caliber and value.
He recently found a rhythm, climbing six with four wins out of eight matches. However, if Rohit is to justify his retention CRS RS 16,30, more consistent and impressive shifts will be needed in the second half of the tournament.
Statistics: M: 7 | R: 158 | HS: 76* | AVG: 26,33 | SR: 154,90 | 50s: 1
