RCB to Face KKR in IPL 2025 Opener
RCB will begin their campaign against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the tournament opener. The match will take place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, with both teams aiming to start the season on a strong note.
On paper, RCB appears to be one of the most balanced teams in IPL 2025. The franchise secured several match-winners during the auction, and if they perform to their potential, they could emerge as strong contenders for the title.
The team recently announced Rajat Patidar as their new captain. The young leader will guide a star-studded squad, including Virat Kohli, as RCB aims to clinch their maiden IPL title.
Dinesh Karthik on RCB’s Auction Strategy
Karthik revealed that RCB’s auction strategy was focused on balancing the squad with both batters and bowlers. He stated that the team was assembled with the goal of creating a well-rounded unit. Speaking to NDTV, he said:
“This auction, we did look to understand that we wanted to spread the whole auction first towards batters and bowlers equally, and we picked a team according to what we thought was the best way to put out a level on the path.”
Equal Importance to Every Player
Karthik acknowledged that while RCB looks strong on paper, the team will strive to ensure every player feels valued and understands their role. He explained:
“And so far, the team does look good on paper, and having said that, I think all teams do look good on paper. But RCB definitely will try and do everything to give equal importance to each and every player, their role, and what they can do for the team in tough conditions.”
RCB’s Quest for Their First IPL Title
RCB remains one of the three franchises yet to win an IPL title. Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, the team will be determined to end their title drought and lift the coveted trophy for the first time in IPL history.
