New leaks claim that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will soon support visual intelligence. Visual intelligence in Apple Intelligence refers to tasks that require computer vision. Although the iPhone 15 Pro model supports artificial intelligence (AI) processing on devices, it is currently only available for the iPhone 16 series. According to the prompter, despite the lack of camera control buttons, Apple found a decision after a solution to integrate these AI features in the recently launched iPhone 16E.
The iPhone 15 Pro model can get visual intelligence features
John Gruber, co-creator of Markdown Markup language, claimed in a blog post that the iPhone 15 Pro Models will get visual intelligence features in April. The prompter quoted an unnamed Apple representative, claiming that smartphone owners will be able to bind the feature using the Action button. It is said that this is launched through the iOS 18.4 update.
It is worth noting that Visual Intelligence allows iPhone 16 series users to press and hold the camera control buttons to quickly use the camera’s viewfinder to find detailed information about the company, translate text, summarize text or read text aloud, and identify plants, animals, etc. So far, the feature is unique to the latest generation of iPhones, and it is the only way to access it using the camera control buttons.
However, with the launch of the iPhone 16E, Apple also added visual intelligence to the control center and added the ability to bind the feature through the action button. Now, it seems to be added to the iPhone 15 Pro model.
It is worth noting that Visual Intelligence is the only Apple Intelligence feature that has not launched the iOS 18.2 update. Many speculate that this is being done to establish a distinction between the two generations, but this may not be the case. Gruber speculates that Cupertino-based tech giants are waiting for the launch of the iPhone 16e and then expanding the capabilities to older devices.
Interestingly, Apple also integrates visual intelligence with OpenAI’s Chatgpt and provides users with an option to access chatbots to ask queries about surrounding objects.
