
The second meeting of the Divisional Rail User Advisory Committee for 2025-26 was held here on Tuesday (February 3). Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra presided over the meeting. Committee members, ADRM (Infra) E. Santhram and Divisional Branch Officers attended.
The meeting was attended by nine members of DRUCC, including Ch. Vamsi Krishna Srinivas, MLA from Visakhapatnam South. Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, industry, cultural associations, recognized passenger associations, interest groups and nominees of parliamentarians were also present.
K. Pavan Kumar, Chief Commercial Officer of the Division and Secretary, DRUCC, welcomed the members and gave an overview of the Division’s development activities, performance and achievements.
The present members of DRUCC were Ch. Vamsi Krishna Srinivas, AVS Prasad (Special Interest), Dr. B. Rajesh (nominated by Chamber of Commerce, Visakhapatnam), Ch. Avataram Naidu (Visakhapatnam Port Trust), Ch. Gandhi (Nominated Member of Lok Sabha, Visakhapatnam), Representative Satyaprakash Panda (Andhra Odisha Railway Users Association, GNPR), U. Dilip Patro (The Ability People, Visakhapatnam), V. Satyanarayana Rao (Parvatipuram Town Passengers Association) and Dr. Y. Raghuram
Members raised concerns and offered suggestions regarding passenger amenities, including improving facilities for Divyangjan, introducing special and regular trains, increasing train frequency, naming trains and overall service improvement.
Mr. Gandhi emphasized the need to introduce Vande Bharat Express services from Visakhapatnam to Bengaluru and Tirupati. He also sought a reduction in parking charges at the Duvvada railway station.
The Divisional Railway Director assured the committee that appropriate action would be taken within the available provisions and other matters would be forwarded to the concerned authorities for necessary action.
