Internet services will be suspended on May 30 in Haryana’s Faridabad ahead of the demolition

The Haryana government on Friday (May 30, 2026) ordered temporary suspension of mobile internet, bulk SMS and all dongle services in a designated area of ​​Faridabad district to maintain public order during the upcoming demolition drive scheduled on May 30.

According to an order (dated May 29) issued by the Haryana Government’s Home Department, mobile internet services including 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G, bulk SMS services and dongle services will be suspended within a radius of one kilometer from the notified location in NIT Zone, Faridabad District, and the suspension will remain in effect from 12:30 PM to 08:30 PM.

“Now, in exercise of the powers conferred on me under section 20 of the Telecommunications Act, 2023 read with rule (3) of the Telecommunications (Temporary Suspension of Services) Rules, 2024, 1, the Additional Secretary Home-1, Haryana hereby orders the suspension of Mobile Internet Services (3cG/lud 5G and Mobile Banking) 3cG/lud 5G/mobile 5G recharge) and all dongle services etc. provided in mobile networks except voice calls within 1 kilometer radius (Lat 28.39448 and Long 77.28622) of NIT zone in Faridabad district.

All telecom service providers of Haryana are hereby directed to ensure compliance with this order,” said the order signed by Additional Home Secretary Vandana Disodia. The decision was taken on the basis of inputs from ADGP (Additional Director General of Police)/CID, Haryana and Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad, citing concerns of tension, public disturbance, damage to public and private property during the drive and possible demolition.

He further added, “Inasmuch as ADGP/CID, Haryana and Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad brought to my notice in their requests dated 29/05/2026 that during the demolition drive on 30/05/2026 in the area of ​​NIT Zone, District Faridabad, there is apprehension of public property and damage to private property, disturbance, tension, unrest. peace & tranquility.”

“The government said the restrictions were imposed to prevent the spread of misinformation and rumors through social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and messaging services that could be used to mobilize crowds or agitators.”

“To stop the spread of misinformation and rumors through various social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. on mobile phones and SMS to facilitate and mobilize mobs of agitators and protesters who may cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private property by indulging in arson or vandalism and other types of violent activities,” the order said.

However, the order clarified that voice calls will remain functional. Individual SMS, banking-related SMS, mobile top-up messages and broadband and leased internet services for homes and businesses were also exempted from the suspension. “We emphasize that this order is issued with utmost care for public convenience by exempting individual SMS, mobile top-up, bank SMS, voice calls, internet services provided by broadband and leased circuits of corporate and domestic households, thereby not affecting the business/financial interests of the state and the basic household needs of individuals.

It further added that the temporary restrictions are limited to a notified radius of one kilometer in the NIT zone under the jurisdiction of Faridabad district, will remain in force from 12:30 PM to 10:00 PM and have been imposed as an emergency precautionary measure to maintain public order.

“This order is passed to prevent any disturbance of peace and order, only within 1 kilometer radius of the location of NIT zone in the jurisdiction of Faridabad District, will remain in force from 00:30 AM to 10:00 PM on 30.05.2026. This order is also passed on the person found guilty of the previous paragraph in view of the situation explained. the above order will be liable for legal action as per the relevant provisions of the law.”
