The ODISH government plans to introduce Tigers in the famous Debrigarrh Wildlife Sanctuary in the Bargarh district, said the head of the forest department official on Tuesday PTI.
Speaking of the revival of the population of large cats in Odisha on the occasion of the International Tiger on July 29, the main main conservator of the forest (PCCF) of wild animals prem Kumar Jha said that Debrigarrh Wildlife Sanctare is a possible place to introduce tigers.
“We have received a technical permit from the National Tigers (NTCA) to transfer Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctua to the tiger reserve,” Jha said.
The state government has created an expert committee for the study of the sanctuary of wild animals and submitting a report indicating the main area and a leveling zone to become tiger housing, he said.
“After completing the process, we will take steps to bring the tiger to the sanctuary,” he added.
Relocation of tiger uphill
PCCF said that relocation of tiger is a very difficult process, he said: “Movement Tigress Sundari in Satkosia Tiger Reserve remained unsuccessful.”
Last November, two tigers – Jamuna and Zeat – were brought to Similipal Tiger Reserve (p) from Maharashtra.
The Tiger Tiger relocation project was 80 % successful when Zenat went to Jharkhand and West Bengal and brought back to Str. Now the two stress have been limited to their different territories, Jha said.
Inbreeding between the closed population has proven to be an imminent threat to striped predators in the protected area. Authority Str therefore suggested bringing four tigers-two men and two women-Z Mahashtra.
After studying the behavior of two stress, the steps will be taken to bring another tiger on page, he said.
A similar step will be brought in the future to bring tigers to Satkosia Tiger Reserve, which currently has no tigers, a forest officer said.
In 2018, ODISHA has attempted a tiger translocation on Satkosia Tiger reserve. The tiger named Mahavir was brought from the Kanha National Park and the stashes named Sundari from the Bandhavgarh National Park, both in Madhya Pradesh, and released in Satkosia.
While the tiger died after he fell into the trap laid poachers, the stabbed was sent back to the original station after allegedly killed two people during a 30 -month stay in Odisha.
According to the latest census carried out by Odisha Forest Department, 30 royal Bengal tigers were found in the state, 27 of which were found in the Similipal Tiger reserve.
On International Tiger Day, a acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created in cooperation with the World Wide Fund for Nature-India (WWF India) sculpture with a 20 trace tiger surrounded by 51 small tigers on the Puri Beach.
Pattnaik said, “It is honored to cooperate with WWF-India on Global Tiger Day to create this sand art that reflects deep tiger connections with our forests and communities.”
“My work is trying to send a strong visual report on the importance of coexistence. The tiger is not just a symbol of power-it is the protector of our environment and serves as a guardian of our ecosystem,” he said.
