International experts “satisfied” with Polavaram project work pace, quality

The international expert team that reviewed the construction of the Polavaram Irrigation Project has expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on site.

International expert Sean Hinchberger launched a three-day inspection on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) and conducted a detailed review of construction activity.

The officials presented the progress so far, including the status of work on the gate wall and the construction of the Earth-cum-Rock Fill Dam (ECRF). The expert team said earlier technical recommendations were implemented to help speed up the work without compromising on quality.

The delegation also inspected the Gap-1 and Gap-2 sections of the ECRF dam and appreciated the coordinated work of the central and state agencies and the implementing company in executing the project. Water Resources Department Special Principal Secretary Shashibhushan Kumar and others were present.
