International agricultural event focused on climate resilience
Science and Partnerships Week, an event co-hosted by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) from 12 to 17 April next year, will address emerging priorities across the agri-food value chain, including climate resilience, water management, soil health and public-private partnerships.
Briefing reporters, DARE Secretary ML Jat said it will bring researchers, farmers, governments, start-ups and businesses from around the world to New Delhi this week. “Together they will look at the innovations that are already coming to farmers and where more work is needed to achieve much more,” he said.
The event would provide an important platform to strengthen international cooperation and facilitate the exchange of scientific knowledge, technology and best practices. “India’s priority will be to promote South-South cooperation and share its successful agricultural innovations with the Global South, especially African countries,” he added.
CGIAR Executive Director Ismahane Elouafi said the event will celebrate the achievements of the long-term partnership between CGIAR and DARE, while developing a forward-looking program for the next 50 years of agricultural cooperation. She added that India has shown what strong national science can achieve on a large scale. “Seed and knowledge from India are already helping farmers in Africa and Asia. In April, we want to build on this exchange and consider together where science can do more,” she said.
The first CGIAR Science Week was held in Nairobi, Kenya in April 2025. “The New Delhi edition will focus on how we move from science to impact and how partnerships can advance South-South cooperation,” the Union Ministry of Agriculture said in a release.
