Inter Kashi was officially declared 2024-25 I-League champions after the arbitration court for Sport (CAS) in its favor and overturned the earlier decision of the AFF Appeal, which handed over the title Churchill Brothers.
With the verdict, Inter Kashi’s final sum, he rises to 42 points, puts them over the Churchill brothers unlike the goals and earns them direct promotion to the Indian Super League. It refers to the stunning end of one of the best challenged and dramatic I-League seasons in the recent memory-a historical success for the club to play its first top campaign.
The yellow card that launched a saga
The controversy came from the loss of 2-1 Inter Kashi on the Namdhari FC On January 13, Kashi later claimed that Namdhari had built a Brazilian midfielder Cledson Carvalho da Silva, who had accumulated three yellow cards and was to be suspended for this match.
The AFF Disciplinary Committee originally decided in favor of Kashi and awarded them three points. But the confusion broke out when Namdhari claimed that the player was not listed on the official AIFF portal. The decision was 27. March suspended and the matter was packed in a dispute defining the season.
When the AFF Appeal entered, he turned the earlier decision and renewed the original result of the match. This verdict meant that Churchill Brothers – which ended up 40 points – were named the interim champions, while Inter Kashi, with 39, fell to second place.
CAS TIME CASE: Two wins from Lausanne
Inter Kashi did not want to leave the state the state, took the matter to the Arbitration Court for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland. First, they referred to the decision of the AIFF Appeal – and won. CAS restored three points from the Namdhari match and moved Kashi to 42 and moved them in front of Churchill Brothers.
However, even after the AIFF decision, he officially appointed Inter Kashi as champions. So the club returned to CAS with the second appeal – looking for a formal confirmation of their victory in the title.
On July 18, CAS issued a clear directive: “AIFF will immediately declare Inter Kashi FC as the winner of the I-League 2024-25 season.”
With that, Churchill Brothers dropped second and Real Kashmir and Gokulam Kerala-Bob ended 37 body-they were one of the best fighting seasons in the recent i-League history.
According to logic and precedens, Inter Kashi now earns promotion to the Indian Super League. But here’s Twist: Isl himself faces an uncertain future. The plan for the integration and promotion of the league is still murky and there is a discussion between the AIFF and the parties involved, Kashi’s hard -fought triumph feels slightly suppressed. They won the war – but for the time being the battlefield remains vague.
