Indian Navy warship INS Trishul arrived in Toulon, France on Tuesday (September 22, 2026) to take part in the 24th edition of Varuna, a bilateral naval exercise with the French Navy, officials said on Thursday.

According to the Indian Navy, the exercise will involve professional deployments both on land and at sea, including shipboard visits, operational interactions and sporting activities aimed at improving interoperability and enabling the two navies to share operational experience and best practices.

These engagements are also expected to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between the Indian and French navies.

The deployment of INS Trishul to France underscores the enduring maritime partnership between the two countries and the expanding scope of bilateral maritime cooperation, the Navy said.
