Hassan MLA, HP Swaroop of the JD(S), claimed that the special investigation team (SIT), which filed the chargesheet after investigating the alleged circulation of explicit videos related to former MP Prajwal Revanna, the sexual abuse cases involved the accusation of “innocent party workers”.
Speaking to reporters in Hassan on Friday, Mr. Swaroop said the SIT had investigated the role of 52 people and eventually filed a chargesheet against 39 people. Among them were 10 to 12 Janata Dal (Secular) workers. “They are all innocent, they have nothing to do with the alleged leak of videos and photos. However, those who were really involved in the case were dropped from the indictment,” he said.
Mr. Swaroop said he was in trouble because one of his cousins was implicated in the allegations. “My cousin is engaged in his own profession after obtaining an engineering degree in Australia. His name was included in the allegation even though he had no role in the case. The party stands by the party workers and will launch a legal battle in their support,” the MLA said. Condemning the allegations, Mr. Swaroop urged the state government to investigate the case further and find those really involved and punish them.
The SIT recently filed a chargesheet after investigating the case and named 39 people as accused. The list included workers of major political parties.
