
Four people died, 38 lacked and 23 survived after the ferry transported 65 people near the Indonesian island of Bali, the country’s search and rescue agency said on Thursday.
“The KMP ton of Pratama Jaya fell almost half an hour after leaving the port of Banyuwangi to the east of Java on the way of Bali on Wednesday on Bali on Wednesday,” the agency said on Thursday.

The ship carried 53 passengers and 12 crew members, as well as 22 vehicles, the agency said.

Ferries are widely used in Indonesia, more than 17,000 islands, but accidents are common due to poor safety procedures, including overfilling and lack of proper furnishings.
In 2023, a small ferry turned near Sulawesi, which resulted in at least 15 people’s death.
