IndiGo has assured us about the resumption of flights to Mumbai from Belagavi, Lok Sabha member Jagadish Shettar said in Belagavi on Wednesday.
“I spoke to Head, Sales, IndiGo, Anshul Sethi and urged him to resume flights to Mumbai and provide air connectivity to Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Surat from Belagavi. Mr. Sethi gave a clear assurance that IndiGo will provide air services to Mumbai in the coming days and will also look at extending this service to major cities like Pan”Chennai’ and Surat,” said Shettar.
“I told him that hundreds of businessmen travel daily from Belagavi to Mumbai for business transactions. But currently there is no air service available to Mumbai. Therefore, during the discussion, it was raised that if IndiGo provides air service from Belagavi to Mumbai, it will be very convenient for businessmen and public,” he said.
“Accordingly, there is a demand from the public to provide flight services to major cities like Pune, Surat and Chennai. He has agreed to consider these requests favourably,” Shettar said.
Meanwhile, the MP held a meeting with senior officials in Belagavi on Tuesday to review the progress of various projects. Officials of the district administration, railways and NHAI were present.

Railway officials also said that the Commissioner of Police has sought permission to divert traffic for the construction of a second railway line near LC No. 381 at Tilakwadi. The work is expected to start soon, they added.
Mr. Shettar asked the forest officials to speed up the process of issuing permission for the railway flyover near Khanapur. He asked the NHAI officials to speed up the six-laning work on Belagavi-Sankeshwar National Highway.
He also asked the Public Works and other officials to speed up the work on the Halaga-Mache bypass. Officials said land acquisition for 35 km of the 44 km Belagavi-Hunagund-Raichur road project has been completed and the process of acquiring the rest will begin soon.
