IndiGo’s board on Friday (December 12, 2025) approved the appointment of Chief Aviation Advisors LLC, led by Captain John Illson, to conduct an independent expert review and root cause analysis of massive flight disruptions for the airline.
In a press statement, he said he brings more than four decades of aviation experience across the FAA, ICAO, IATA and major global carriers.
Captain Illson brings extensive expertise in global aviation strategy, customized consulting, safety leadership, international standard setting and emerging aviation technologies.
The statement added that the goal is to conduct an independent analysis of the root causes of the recent disruption in service, in addition to opportunities for improvement.
This decision follows the recommendation of the Crisis Management Group (CMG) constituted by the IndiGo Board. As part of its assessment, CMG recommended that an independent expert opinion be commissioned in this matter.
Once approved by the board, the review will begin at the earliest, and the expert reviewer will submit a comprehensive report to the board upon completion.
