Under fire, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Sunday granted IndiGo a one-off 24-hour extension to file its response to show-cause notices issued in the wake of the chaos at Indian airports triggered by the budget carrier’s mass cancellation of flights.
“The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted a one-time 24-hour extension to the responsible manager and CEO of M/s IndiGo to submit its reply to the show cause notice issued on December 6, 2025 regarding the recent widespread operational disruptions and non-compliances identified,” the aviation watchdog said in a statement.
“The two officials, in their request dated December 7, 2025, sought additional time to respond, citing operational constraints due to the scale of nationwide operations and multiple unavoidable factors that contributed to disruptions at several airports,” the DGCA statement added.
That said, the aviation watchdog warned that failure to submit a comprehensive response to the show cause notice within the time frame “will result in the regulator proceeding ex-parte on the basis of available records”.
