National airline IndiGo on Thursday canceled 67 flights from several airports citing “anticipated” bad weather and operational reasons, according to the airline’s website. This comes amid the New Year rush that has begun across the country. Meanwhile, aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has designated the period from December 10 to February 10 as the official fog window for this winter.
IndiGo, which is under DGCA supervision after thousands of flights were canceled earlier this month, is operating a limited flight schedule in accordance with government guidelines, according to PTI. Under the original winter schedule, the airline could operate 15,014 domestic flights per week, or about 2,144 flights per day, which is about six percent more than the 14,158 flights per week it operated during the 2025 summer schedule.
However, after significant disruptions, including the cancellation of 1,600 flights in a single day due to new pilot rest norms mandating additional rest, the government has cut IndiGo’s domestic flight schedule by 10 percent, or 214 flights a day. As a result, under the current winter schedule, IndiGo is limited to operating a maximum of 1,930 domestic flights per day.
