IndiGo cancellation: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation on Sunday issued a show-cause notice to IndiGo’s manager-in-charge, a day after it issued a similar notice to CEO Pieter Elbers.
In its notice, the aviation regulator noted that the recent spate of IndiGo cancellations has resulted in severe inconvenience, hardship and distress to passengers across India.
“It has also been noted that the primary cause of the said flight disruptions is the failure to provide adequate arrangements to meet the revised requirements for smooth implementation of the approved FOTL system for the airline,” the DGCA said.
Over the past week, IndiGo has canceled thousands of flights across India, causing huge chaos at almost all airports in the country, citing operational difficulties due to the new FDTL (Flight Duty Time Limitations) norms under the DGCA.
“…Within 24 hours of receipt of this notice, you are invited to show cause why appropriate enforcement action should not be taken against you under the applicable provisions of the Aircraft Rules and Civil Aviation Requirements for the violation. If you do not submit your response within the specified time, the matter will be decided ex parte.”
