
The police submitted the indictment in the case of less abuse of pathanamthitt considered to be the largest such case to be reported in the state, and accused 59 individuals as accused.
Of the 59 accused, 57 were arrested, while for the remaining two who are currently abroad, circuits (LOC) were issued. Five accused are minors. The indictment was submitted to the Pathanamthitta court of another meeting.
A total of 30 cases associated with abuse were registered at five police stations, while Elavumthitta recorded the highest number (17). Cases were also submitted at the Pathanamthitta, MalayAppuzha, Pandalam and Callambalam stations.
The defendants include classmates and neighbors of the survivors. The investigation also revealed that some circulated videos of abuse through social media. Several perpetrators first met the victim at the private stand of Pathanamthitta, where she was transported to several places and was exposed to abuse.
The case occurred after the estate, now 18, revealed that it had been abused by more individuals since the age of 13. Abuse reportedly began when a neighbor showed her pornographic videos on his phone. When she was 16, he subjected her to sexual abuse by taking on an isolated hill near their home and later introduced it to his friends to further exploitation.
The case was also caused by interventions from the National Female Commission and the National Commission for Planned Casts.
