The Madhapur police registered a case against actor Chandrahas on a complaint lodged by a senior journalist over a threat posted on social media.
The case is related to an incident related to a pre-release event of Chandrahas’ upcoming film where the actor allegedly sang a song on stage during the event that contained obscene and inappropriate lyrics, drawing criticism from a section of the media and public.
Ashok Kumar, a journalist with a popular news channel, later posted a video on his social media account criticizing the use of inappropriate language at public events. In the video, he allegedly stated that such behavior was unacceptable, especially in a public forum and in the presence of an audience of all ages.
The complaint alleges that Chandrahas subsequently responded by posting a video on his Instagram account in which he threatened the journalist for speaking out against the incident. The Madhapur police took cognizance of the complaint and registered a case against the actor under relevant sections of the law.
Police officials said an investigation is underway to verify the allegations.
