Deputy Minister of DK Shivakumara said on Friday that the state government is trying to put pressure on the Union government to increase the almatti dam on the Krishna River on 524 meters (m) in Kolhar in Vijayapura.
“We are putting pressure on the central government to issue a notification to increase the dam to entertain more water. We also decided to continue the necessary land acquisition process if the proposal is approved and identified areas of immersion, said the main and medium irrigation minister after laying the foundation for several development projects.
“We decided to increase the height of the dam. I discussed this problem with the MLA and decided to continue the land acquisition process. Recently, Prime Minister Siddaramaiah met with the Minister of Trade Unions.
He said that due to the aimed development of irrigation in northern Karnati, various districts in the region turn to the districts of sugar cane cultivation. “After Mandyi, the districts of this region have become sugar cane bowls. We are determined to improve the lives of farmers in this region. New factories are starting in this region and jobs are formed,” he said.
“The opposition parties criticize that there has been no development. This is false. We have done many programs for the development of the region. Every year we released 5,000 crore for Kalyan Karnataka and 2,025 GBP Crore for Bidar District.
He claimed that BJP governments did not adhere to their promise in the past. “There was no 5,300 GBP Crore, which was declared in the budget for the Bhadra UPPER River project. It did not support irrigation projects in northern cards,” he said.
“Some Banjara community leaders have met me and expressed their concerns about the census and the inner reserve. I want to tell them that I understand their concerns. I alummate not to believe in reputation. We have a strong government in the state. We will try to ensure justice.
He said Congress would come to power in the next period. He appreciated the work performed by Minister Shivanand Patil Patil in his Ministry and his district.
