The India (WFI) match federation suspended 11 wrestlers to present false birth certificates. The event comes after the municipal company in Dilli (MCD) verified a set of 110 documents, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the age group competitions.
The WFI official, spoke with the PTI, confirmed the suspension, and said the Federation was determined to ensure that no real wrestler was disadvantaged. “We have already taken a few steps and continue to need it. WFI wants a clean system in which no real wrestler is damaged. No one should gain any unfair advantage,” the official said.
The question of age fraud in terms of wrestlers competing in junior categories has Wasted Sport in India For years. In many cases, athletes reportedly acquired false birth certificates – sometimes registered 12 to 15 years after birth – to compete in younger age groups or representing other countries.
MCD after the Certificates passed by the WFI certificates said that while 95 of them were issued on orders from a sub-diameter judge (SDM), it was found to be false, Photoshopped or digitally manipulated. These belonged to the wrestlers of Saksham, Manuj, Kavita, Anshu, Arush Rana, SHUBHAM, Gautam, Jagrup Dhankar, Nakul, Dushyant and Siddharth Baliyan.
Of the 11 false certificates identified, six of the Delhi zone Narela, two of Najafgarh and one of Rohini, Civil Lines and City Zone came. WFI confirmed that the suspension announcement was sent to six wrestlers on August 7, and five others have already been suspended earlier for similar violations.
The MCD clarified its role and stated that “95 birth certificates issued a municipal company in Delhi only after she had received orders from a subdivision judge and MCD does not occur.” He also found two certificates where the date of registration was intentionally changed to authorities.
Complaint for the Ministry of Sports
Meanwhile Neeri Kumar, the father of the wrestler based in Delhi, handed and filed and Complaint with the Ministry of Sports accusations of violating the residence. He claimed that Haryan’s Ishika was allowed to compete for Delhi at a recent 53 kg event at 53 kg and demanded an investigation to follow transparency and fair play in selection processes.
