India’s First Bullet Train Project Opens 224 Vacancies: Check Who Can Apply | Today’s news
National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is developing India’s first bullet train project, has announced the recruitment of 224 vacancies across technical, operational and managerial positions.
The opportunity is linked to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor, one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the country. According to an official notification cited by News18, the recruitment is aimed at strengthening the manpower required for the construction, operation and maintenance of India’s first high-speed rail network.
209 non-executive and 15 executive positions were announced
Among the 224 vacancies, there are 209 non-executive posts and 15 executive posts.
Recruitment involves several departments such as engineering, station operations, information technology and security. Major posts announced include Junior Engineer, Station/Train Manager, Depot/Operation Controller, IT Professionals and Security Officers.
Junior Engineer vacancies have been announced in several disciplines including Civil, Track, Electrical, Signaling and Telecommunication (S&T), Rolling Stock and Automatic Fare Collection (AFC). The notification also includes 55 vacancies for train conductors and 5 vacancies for depot/operation dispatchers, the release said.
Eligibility criteria for applicants
Applicants must fulfill the conditions mentioned in the official notification. The age limit was set at a maximum of 45 years as of May 31, 2026.
In addition to education, applicants must have at least three years of experience in operations and maintenance related to rail, subway, or regional rapid transit systems (RRTS) projects.
Depending on the position, candidates should have either a three-year diploma or a BE/BTech degree in the relevant discipline.
The selection process will take place in stages
The selection process will take place in several stages. Candidates will first appear for Computer Based Test (CBT). This will be followed by document verification and a medical examination.
Only candidates who pass all the stages will be considered for final appointment.

The closing date for applications for executive positions is 9 July 2026. Applications for non-executive positions will be open until 14 July 2026.
Work on India’s first Bullet Train continues
The recruitment comes as work continues on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor.
The project is India’s first bullet train corridor and is among the government’s flagship transport infrastructure initiatives. Once operational, the high-speed train is expected to reduce the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad by almost two hours, improving connectivity between the two major cities.
The government is currently aiming to launch the bullet train project on August 15, 2027.
