India’s AI mission, Intel sets Guinness World Record for most AI commitments in 24 hours | Today’s news

February 18, 2026

India’s flagship IndiaAI Mission, supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with Intel India, has created a Guinness World Records title after collecting the highest number of pledges for an AI accountability campaign in 24 hours.

Launched on February 16 at 8:00 AM IST, the nationwide initiative is positioned as a public engagement effort aimed at building awareness of the ethical and responsible use of AI – with a special focus on trust, inclusion, accountability and disinformation.

Nationwide pledge campaign under MeitY’s IndiaAI Mission

The campaign was launched by MeitY as part of the IndiaAI mission in collaboration with Intel India. He attempted to obtain the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for “Most AI Accountability Campaign Pledges Received in 24 Hours”.

In addition to the record attempt, the program is conceived as a mass mobilization exercise to encourage citizens to commit to responsible AI practices and strengthen India’s broader ambitions to develop a human-centric AI ecosystem.

Where to take the responsibility of AI

The pledge is hosted on a dedicated digital platform: http://aipledge.indiaai.gov.in/

The portal was designed as an interactive experience rather than a simple registration form. Participants are guided through scenario-based questions to prompt reflection on responsible AI behavior before making a final commitment.

Upon completion, participants will receive a digital badge of honor issued jointly by IndiaAI and Intel India along with access to curated, government-led AI learning paths.

Scenario based questions, no barriers and focus on accessibility

Organizers said the campaign was structured to ensure broad participation across regions and demographics. It does not require access to a microphone or camera and has no qualifying marks or eligibility restrictions.

The initiative is intended to be accessible to users regardless of age, education level or professional background – a design choice to maximize reach and reduce friction in participation.

How the pledge process works

Participants can join the campaign:

Visiting the official pledge portal

Completion of the simple registration process

Attendance verification using one time password (email id or phone number)

Engaging with short awareness questions based on a scenario

Sending a formal pledge of responsibility to AI

The campaign is aimed at students, educators, parents and guardians, government officials, public sector representatives, industry experts, start-ups and citizens from diverse backgrounds.

The organizers placed particular emphasis on youth participation and positioned the pledge as a tool to build early awareness of the responsible use of AI, data privacy, accountability and the fight against misinformation.

India AI Impact Summit 2026 Citizen Engagement Pillar

The AI Accountability Pledge is also a key pillar for citizen engagement at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled for February 16-20 at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

The summit is slated to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is expected to bring together heads of state, global leaders, policy makers, industry experts, researchers, startups, academia and civil society.

The summit agenda will be framed around the main pillars of People, Planet and Progress, with discussions focusing on how AI can be used for inclusive and development-oriented outcomes.
