Indians will not be allowed visa-free entry into Iran from November 22 as Tehran has suspended the facility due to the rise in human trafficking cases, according to ANI. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued an alert on Monday warning its citizens against fake job scams and asking them to remain vigilant.
What did the MEA say?
“The government has been alerted to several incidents of Indian nationals being lured to Iran on false promises of employment or with assurances of onward transit to third countries. These individuals were tricked into traveling to Iran by taking advantage of the visa-free regime available to ordinary Indian passport holders. Upon arrival in Iran, many were kidnapped for ransom,” MEA.
