A related Indian national kidnapped terrorist group associated with al-Qaeda in West Africa Mali claimed that terrorists demand ransom in exchange for people.
P Venkataraman, the resident of the Odism district of Ganjam, is one of the three Indians kidnapped by a terrorist group associated with Al-Qaeda in Western Africa Mali.
Venkataraman’s sister -in -law told the press agency or that his family had called from the company where Venkataraman worked in Mali.
The brother-in-law said, “We called from society that he and some others were in police custody because the terrorists had lit a factory. The international report claimed that Al-Qaeda had kidnapped some people.”
“We called the company to confirm this and refused to dismiss this information and stated that terrorists demand ransom in exchange for people,” he quoted him.
Venkataraman’s brother -in -law further informed that his family complained about the police after waiting for several days. “I called and sent the embassy, but I didn’t get any answer. I demand that my brother -in -law is safely brought back home,” he said.
The brother -in -law said on Saturday that Venkat last called on June 30.
“He (Venkataraman) worked at a cement factory in Mali, Western Africa.
Previously, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed deep concern about the kidnapping of three Indian workers from the Mali’s Kayes region and urged the authorities in the West African country to ensure their “safe and fast” rescue.
“It was known about the Indian government that many military and government installations in several places of western and central Mali were attacked by terrorists on July 1,” Mea said on Wednesday.
