Last November, the women’s team secured their first ICC title when they defeated the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final at the Dr. DY Patil defeated South Africa women’s team by 52 runs.

Ahead of the men’s final, the women’s team expressed their support through a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India Women on X. The video featured Muzumdar, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana sending their wishes to the men’s team. The caption read: “From one India team securing the World Cup at home to another team going for World Cup glory tonight at home.“I would like to wish everyone the best. There will be a huge crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium. A fantastic atmosphere to play the World Cup final,” Muzumdar said.“All the best men in blue for the World Cup final. We’re all rooting for you. Go for it,” Deepti Sharma said, while Jemimah Rodrigues added: “Let’s bring it home. We’re rooting for you.”India reached the T20 World Cup final for the fourth time, the most by any team. Of the nine previous finals, six were won by the pursuit team. Of the other three, India won two – in 2007 and 2024 – both in matches decided in the final.
