Indian Captain SHUBMAN GILL (AP/PTI) SHUBMAN GILL tightly avoided landing in trouble with the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the third Lord’s test after a small but noticeable violation of clothing regulations. Just before the game, during the national anthem, the Indian captain was seen on the red vest under a white jersey. Pursuant to Article 19.44 Code of Clothing and ICC equipment for test matches must be any visible underwear under the white shirt. Color vests or pads must not be strictly visible. Fortunately for Gill, he quickly realized this problem. When the teams stood on the first session, he discreetly turned on the shirt to cover the red vest – effectively resolved the violation before the game started. ICC closely monitors such details and players can face fines even for seemingly minor offenses, especially when the color for the mere eye is visible.

This is not the first time a young captain has been on the edge of breaking clothes. During the first headingley test, Gill has seen black socks that also do not meet the ICC clothing standards for test matches. However, he fixed the error by switching to white socks the next day and avoided any disciplinary proceedings again. Gill’s awareness and quick action helped him avoid a possible sanction from ICC on both occasions. Although they may seem less supervision, the rules are forced seriously, especially in the traditional format of the game
