The Indian engineer based in Europe shares a short example that emphasizes the contrasting work culture between the two regions. Akhilesh, who describes himself as an engineer working in Paris on his X Bio, took social media to reveal how Indian managers differ from their European counterparts in terms of granting holiday approval.
Akhilesh said that when he first started working in Europe, he approached his manager to ask for a holiday request. The manager’s answer surprised him. He informed the Indian engineer that the paid holiday was included in his contract and therefore did not require “approval”.
“No, you just inform me with a reasonable warning. It is part of our contract, not something I will give,” said Akhilesh manager.
He created a sharp contrast with his experience in India, where this process was much more strenuous. “In India, I had to apply for approval, then reminded him to approve approval by e -mails,” he recalled, describing how he initially sends a request for vacation to his manager and then follows it with repeated reminders, which effectively begs to be approved.
The post lit an animated debate on the differences in working culture between India and Europe.
“This is drilling into our minds from school days on how to write a letter for a holiday asking for permission to approve.
“India is a country of slaves where most managers think of themselves as a ruler or justified beings,” man found himself.
“Akhilesh, my experience in India is different with the young generation. I manipulate the team, if 40 and no one submits previous consent, simply watch the policy of human resources,” he faced another.
