India made history on Sunday by winning the first ever Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind, defeating Nepal by seven wickets in the final in Colombo. After winning the toss and electing to field, the Indian bowlers impressed with discipline and accuracy to restrict Nepal to 114 for five in 20 overs. Tight lines, sharp fielding and consistent control throughout the innings kept the opposition under pressure and set the stage for a strong chase.
The Indian batsmen then dominated, reaching 100 runs in just 10 overs and setting a commanding pace to the finish line. Opener Phula Saren produced a match winning performance that will be remembered for years.
She scored a brisk 44 off 27 balls, including four stylish fours, at a strike rate of 162.96. Her top-order innings took India close to victory and a classy four in the 13th over sealed the title with flair. Apart from batting, Saren also bowled three overs for 20 runs which contributed to India’s overall dominance.
Saren’s outstanding all-round efforts earned her the Player of the Match award, underscoring the value of composure and leadership under pressure. This historic triumph not only celebrates India’s success but also signals a bright future for blind women’s cricket on the global stage.

India were exceptional in the Blind World T20 Cup, going unbeaten during the tournament and winning the title. In their opening match, they bowled out Sri Lanka for just 41, chasing down the target in just three overs, aided by a sharp performance that yielded seven run-outs.
Against Australia, India posted a massive 292 for 4 with Deepika TC making 91 and PhulaSaren 54 not out before bowling Australia out for just 57, winning by 209 runs. They then bowled out Pakistan, chasing down 136 in just 10.2 overs, thanks to some brilliant knocks by Deepika and Anekha Devi. India defeated Australia by nine wickets in the semi-finals and sealed the trophy with a commanding performance against Nepal in the final.
In every game, India’s dominance was evident in batting, bowling and fielding, producing an all-round and consistently outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
