Vishal TK, the National Record holder at 400 m, believes that Indian schools must play a larger role in promoting sport in the country. On Monday, September 8 in India, India in South Conclave Star Sprinter said that the country has great potential, but parents were afraid to put their children in sports activities.
India is currently undergoing a running revolution. Like Animesh Kujur, Avinash Sable, Paul Choudhary and Gulveer Singh, the barriers were constantly pushing and violated several national records in the last and half years.
“My coach always says India has great potential. There are more talent, but we have to find them. We can compete against the world if we have the will to compete.
Sprinter recently broke the national record for 400m male event at athletics championships between 2025 in Chennai. Vishal threw 45.12 seconds and defeated the record of Muhammed Anase Yahia of 45.21 seconds, in 2019 he returned.
It was an incredible success for a runner who took a distance of 400 meters only in 2024. Athlete Tamil Nadu was 100 and 200 m sprinter before. Vishal spoke of his days of fighting and told how he turned to his mother during that stressful time.
“During the Covid-19, my mother supported me when I questioned my career. It will help me in the future? Then I had to change my thinking that I had to push, I have to be open to rehearsing new things. I enjoy my way right now,” Vishal said.
Indian schools must promote sport
The 400m specialist added that in addition to the support of parents, it was necessary for India to begin to look at sports and academics as a culture. Vishal said that schools must play a key role in ensuring that sport is not considered a minor career in India.
“In India, sport should be equal to studies. Right now is the thinking that studies are better. Schools should get children and parents to sport. The idea should be that you can also have a career in sports,” Vishal concluded.
Vishal TK has recently done a consistent timing of the sub-46 seconds and is expected to be much better in the future. He is currently training under Jamaican coach Jason Dawson, who has a proven history of building first -class sprinters.
