Indian Railways is going to start a number of reforms to improve passengers’ experience in booking a train card, according to the official press notes of the Ministry of Railways on Sunday.
The aim of Indian Railways is to take steps, such as improving mapping time, introducing a modern system of passenger reservation (BRS) and streamlining verification for all Tatkal reservations.
According to the official remark, the Minister of Trade Union Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, he also recently reviewed the progress of these three upcoming reforms.
“He (Ashwini Vaishnaw) stressed that the ticket sales system should be smart, transparent, accessible and efficient. Planning should focus on passenger comfort. The system must ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience for our passengers,” the Ministry of Railways said in an official press note.
Here are the upcoming reforms of railway leaves
1. Improved advanced mapping: The Indian Railway Council proposed to prepare the “eight hours” reservation chart before the train departure. This advanced mapping system is trying to get rid of the uncertainties in the minds of passengers.
The ministry also said that for trains the departure before 14:00 on a certain day will be prepared at 9 pm the previous day.
The current rule states that the reservation graph must be prepared four hours before the train departure. The Ministry also emphasized how this high uncertainty can cause serious problems for people passed through Indian railways.
“Wherever passengers come from a nearby area to catch the train, this uncertainty can cause serious problems,” according to the press notes.
Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw agreed to this proposal and the Board of Directors will begin to carry out it in the phases to ensure any disturbance of operations.
2. Passengers reservation system (breast): Indian Railways is also set to launch a modern system of passenger reservation (PRS) to December 2025, which aims to be agile, flexible and scalable to process ten times the simultaneous load.
This step is trying to improve the capacity of the ticket reservation. The aim of the railway is that the new breast allows you to book more than 1.5 Lakh tickets per minute, which means 5 times an increase compared to its current level by 32,000 tickets per minute in existing PR.
“The capacity of the ticket interviewing will jump ten times, ie from 4 lakhs to more than 40 lamps to investigate it will be possible per minute,” the ministry said in the note.
They also stressed that the new breast will be multilingual and will be equipped with a user -friendly reservation and interview interface where people will be able to present their seat selection and see a far calendar.
3. Simplified Reservation Tatkal: From 1 July 2025, the new reform will only allow authenticated users to book Tatkal Train tickets through the IRCTC website and mobile applications.
Indian Railways also implements OTP verification for Tatkal reservations since the end of July 2025. Minister of Railway Ashwini Vaishnaw also ordered officials to expand the authentication mechanism for Tatkal reservations.
“Verification should be done using Aadhaar or any other verifiable government ID available in the Digilocker account,” the Minister of Railway said to modernize its systems to make them more friendly.
