India is participating in the United States Navy-led multinational anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise ‘Sea Dragon 2026’, which is being held near Guam this month.
The exercise brings together forces from Australia, Japan and New Zealand to improve coordination and combat readiness in submarine warfare.
According to an official statement from the Australian Department of Defense, the Indian Navy is participating alongside the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), which has deployed a P-8A Poseidon aircraft and about 50 pilots from its recently reformed 12th Squadron at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam.
During the two-week exercise, participating crews will engage in ASW operations, including detection and tracking of both simulated and live underwater targets. The exercises are designed to test speed, accuracy and coordinated mission execution in high-end maritime scenarios, he added.
