(Bloomberg) – Indian Trade Minister and Industry Piyush Goyal said that negotiations with the US on a trade agreement should be allowed to continue and that there is no need to “panic” above the delay.
“We continue to have very good relations with the US and I’m sure we will be able to solve some of these problems and reach a fair, fair and balanced agreement,” Goyal said in an interview with the press agency or.
The formal interviews between the new Delhi and Washington were abolished when the American team canceled in August in August. However, both nations maintain informal communication channels open, indicating that they want to solve tension. At the beginning of this week, President Donald Trump said India offered to reduce its tariffs to zero to zero without saying when the concession was carried out.
“There is never a timeline in the negotiations,” Goyal added. “You should do it patiently because you are doing it for a long time.”
In a separate interview on Thursday, he said that the relationship between India and the US is “very subsequent” and will maintain it during difficult periods.
Trump imposed 50% tariff on Indian exports to the US and quoted high trade barriers and its purchases of Russian oil as reasons for fine. The levies come, although India is an early mover in business interviews with Trump’s administration.
“Time will show whether it works well in a short time or in a longer time frame,” Goyal said.
