Can Shaubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant fill the void left by Virat Kohli in the Indian test cricket?
He said the trio has the potential to leave a permanent heritage, if they agree a fraction of what Kohli brought to the Indian test cricket in terms of intensity and global dominance.“If they can be near as close as they have brought to the test match-energy team and the number one status for such a long time-they have made a decent job.”

When Kohli and Rohit Sharma withdrew from the test format in front of the English series, Vaughan believes that the transition was smooth, but warned against the underestimation of the emptiness that remained behind.“You can’t move suddenly after two legends have left or moved from the team,” he said. Vaughan stressed that Kohli’s biggest contribution was his “competitive energy and intensity”, features that Gill would develop as a captain over time.Despite the recent Indian heart break in the two WTC finals, Vaughan remains optimistic.“I wouldn’t be afraid of the talent that India has. But I would like my test team to be more consistent and more competitive in all conditions.”
