
The President of All India Football Federation (AIFF) Kalyan Chaubey gave the sharp fall of the Indian man’s football team in the FIFA world ranking “complex and fluctuating” nature of the control body evaluation.

In 2023 we moved to 99 out of 106 when I took the lead, and now in 2025, of 99, we went down to 133.”

Losses on stronger parties such as Australia, Uzbekistan and Syria have proven to be costly and poor performances in subsequent accessories only complicated the slide. Chauby also offered a historical perspective and stressed that India began from a much lower base when FIFA first introduced the ranking.
