Indian envoy Vinay Mohan Kwatra met a senior US counter-terrorism official

India’s ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, discussed the threats posed by terrorism around the world during a meeting with senior US counter-terrorism official Sebastian Gorka.
“I had an engaging conversation with @SebGorka Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counter Terrorism, National Security Council,” Mr Kwatra said in a post on X on Sunday (June 7, 2026).
“We shared views on the threats of terrorism and our counter-terrorism cooperation outlined in the India-US Joint Statement of February 2025,” Mr Kwatra said.
In February last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump reaffirmed the need to fight the global scourge of terrorism and remove terrorist sanctuaries from all corners of the world.
“They are committed to strengthening cooperation against terrorist threats from groups including Al Qaeda, ISIS, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Tayyib to prevent heinous acts such as the 11/26 Mumbai attacks and the August 26, 2021, Abbey Gate bombing in Afghanistan,” said a joint statement by Mr. Trump and Mr. 13 after meeting with Mr. M. 13. 2025.
The US also announced the extradition of 2008 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Tahawwur Rana.
Mr Trump and Mr Modi also called on Pakistan to swiftly bring to justice the perpetrators of the November 26 and 2016 Pathankot airbase attacks and ensure its territory is not used for cross-border terrorism.
The leaders also pledged to work together to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, and prevent terrorists and non-state actors from accessing them, a February 2025 joint statement said.
