Abhishek Sharma’s growing popularity briefly made some of his India teammates a little jealous, Sanju Samson joked at the India Today 2026 conclave. Samson said at the event that wherever the team toured ahead of the T20 World Cup, fans lined up just to catch a glimpse of Abhishek.
Samson joked that Abhishek’s rapid rise had made him such a crowd favorite among the younger fans that some of the other Indian players began to wonder if the supporters could even see them.

“Earlier, guys used to get jealous because of Abhishek’s fandom. It was Abhishek, Abhishek everywhere. We were like, do people only see him or what?” Samson said with a laugh.
Samson also engaged in some hilarious leg-pulling of Abhishek, asking him to get married quickly so that other cricketers can share some of the limelight.
“But yeah, he’s the superstar of the team now. Get married soon, dude,” he added jokingly.
