
India Batter Karun Nair revealed that a prominent Indian cricket recommended him to retire and focus on the financial security offered by the T20 franchise leagues. Despite the discouraging Council, Nair remained devoted to the revival of his career. His perseverance in the domestic cricket has now paid off and earned him a place in the Indian 18-man team for the upcoming series of five matches against England, starting on June 20 at Headley, Leeds.
“I still remember a prominent Indian cricket that called me and said you have to retire, because the money in these leagues would secure me,” Nair said in an interview with the Daily Mail. “It would be easy, but I knew that no matter what money I would kick for giving up so easily,” added a 33 -year -old man, remembling for a moment two years ago.
“I’ve never gave up games for India again. It was more than two years ago and looked where we were now,” he insists. “It’s crazy but deep down, I knew I was good enough.”
