India’s innings got off to a shaky start with Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma departing early, leaving the hosts at 19 for two. Zimbabwe had opportunities to put pressure on the Indian middle order but Harmanpreet and Pratika Rawal responded with a close partnership that gradually shifted the momentum.

The pair initially focused on rebuilding, rotating the strike and valuing loose deliveries. As they settled in, both batsmen started finding boundaries more regularly. Harmanpreet reached her half-century off 51 balls while Pratika also crossed the 50-run mark as India crossed the 100 mark.

Their 124-run stand for the third wicket gave the innings much-needed stability and laid the foundation for a substantial stretch. Pratika eventually fell for 61 off 67 balls as he attempted a rush against Nyash Gwanzura before being caught by Beloved Biza near the boundary.

Tejal Hasabnis followed soon after, going for three after being caught by Olinder Chare’s Michelle Mavunga. At 145 for four, Zimbabwe managed to halt India’s progress but the hosts still had Harmanpreet at the crease and Deepti waiting to step up.

Deepti joined Harmanpreet with India needing another substantial partnership and the two delivered in emphatic fashion. Their 153 for the fifth wicket turned a promising revival into a rousing batting display, combining steady accumulation with aggressive hitting as Zimbabwe struggled to find a way.

Harmanpreet remained the anchor and brought up her century from 100 balls. It was her eighth ODI hundred, another milestone in a career defined by her ability to take command when India needed it most. Mandhana stood up to applaud the captain’s successconfirming an innings that gave the hosts firm control.

Harmanpreet eventually departed for 126 off 121 deliveries, hitting 15 fours. Her innings gave India the platform to push towards a formidable total, but Deepti ensured that the score did not slow down after the captain’s appeal.

The all-rounder made effective use of her anti-spin sweepers and found gaps in the offside to keep the scoreboard moving. She reached a half-century off 37 balls before completing her second ODI hundred off 83 deliveries. The milestone ended a wait of 3,450 days since her first century in the format.

Deepti finished unbeaten on 106 off 86 balls to help India close at 328 for six. Contrasting but complementary contributions from Harmanpreet and Deepti were crucial to India’s revival, with both batsmen turning strong starts into match-defining innings.

Zimbabwe needed a strong start to take on the Indian side but Shree Charani disrupted their plans by dismissing Loryn Phiri for six. Phiri struggled during her 23-ball stay before being caught at midwicket by Shafali, with the opening partnership ending on 38.

Modester Mupachikwa and Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano then gave Zimbabwe some hope as they added 69 runs for the third wicket. Mupachika looked set to go deep into the chase, scoring 49 off 70 balls while Mugeri-Tiripano contributed 46 off 57 deliveries.

However, Vaishnavi broke the partnership by dismissing Mupachikwa to claim her first ODI wicket. He returned to the side after being left out of India’s previous match and made an immediate impact when given the opportunity.

She followed it up by removing Beloved Biza for 34, denying the batsman another substantial contribution after her half-century in the series opener. Vaishnavi later dismissed Michelle Mavunga and Josephine Nkomo to finish with four for 39.

Her spell proved decisive in preventing Zimbabwe from building on their middle-order resistance. Sayali Satghare also bowled Mugeri-Tiripano, leaving the visitors increasingly dependent on lower-order contributions to stay in the contest.

As the Zimbabwean chase began to unravel, Deepti stepped in to play another decisive spell. She dismissed Nyasha Gwanzura and Nomvelo Sibanda off successive deliveries in the 46th over to move within one wicket of a hat-trick.

Tendai Makusha survived the hat trick but her reprieve was short lived. Deepti dismissed her for a duck in the next over, adding to her contribution with the bat and strengthening India’s grip on the match.

Jintimani Kalita then claimed her first ODI wicket, dismissing Chiedza Dhururu for 12 in the 49th over. Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 207 in 48.5 overs, unable to overcome the formidable total and sustained pressure from the bowling attack.

The result left India with one match to play, extending the dominant run that began with their clean sweep in the T20Is. The challenge for Mandhana now is to maintain this momentum and finish the ODI leg on a high. With Harmanpreet and Deepti bringing centuries and Vaishnavi making an immediate impact on her return, India found contributions across the departments at a crucial stage of the tour.
