India on Saturday (August 9, 2025) welcomed the summit between the United States and Russia, which will take place on Alaska 15th August. In his statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the summit, which comes after more than three years of Russia-Ukraine conflict, as a step that keeps the “promise” of the conflict. The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin was announced earlier on Saturday.
“This meeting has the promise of ending the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and opening prospects for peace. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi said several times:“ This is not the era of war.
On Friday (August 8, 2025), Mr. Modi led a telephone interview with Mr. Putin. After the interview, Mr. Modi announced at X that the conversation was “very good and detailed” and thanked Mr. Putin for sharing the “latest development in Ukraine”.
The day earlier, the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met with Mr. Putin and other Russian officials, including the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoig, where both parties discussed the defense of India-Russia.
In his announcement at the summit, Mr. Trump published on Truthsocial: “The highly anticipated meeting between me, as the President of the United States, and President Vladimir Putin from Russia will be held next Friday, August 15, 2025 in the Great State of Alaska.
