India on Friday (April 17, 2026) expressed formal support for the 10-day Israel-Lebanon ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump a day earlier. External Affairs Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said at a weekly press briefing that India favors “any step” that ends hostilities in the West Asian region.
“We welcome the ceasefire and not only that, we welcome any step towards peace,” Mr Jaiswal said.
