Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting rejected a false quote that he attributed to him in the middle of India-Pakistan’s controversy at the ongoing Asia Cup. On Sunday, September 14, the tension spread after Suryakumar Yadav and the Indian team did not shake their hands with Pakistani players before the match, followed by victory in the Indian seven goals at the International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Soon thereafter, the devised comment began to circulate online online, suggesting that Ponting criticized India and appreciated Pakistan for their behavior, framed India as defeated and Pakistan as the real aspect of sports sport.
“This match will be remembered forever with India as a big loser. The way the Pakistani team wanted to shake hands at the end is immortalized as the champions of the gentleman’s game with India as a permanent sore loser,” he read.
But Ponting explained that he had never made such remarks. He stressed that the statements that make bikes were false and that he had no public commentary about the Asian Cup.
Pontification, Ponting, wrote about X: “I am aware that they are attributing some comments on social media. Please know that I have not made these statements and I really did not lead to the Asian Cup.”
Pakistan threatens to pull out of Asia Cup
Pakistani cricket council (PCB) had previously threatened to boycott the tournament if the referee of the match Andy Pycroft was not removed and accused him of interfering with throwing to prevent the usual handshake between two captains.
On Monday, PCB chief Naqvi confirmed that he wrote to the International Criket Council (ICC) and demanded Pycroft removal from the rest of the competition. However, after the investigation, ICC rejected the appeal and formally handed over its PCB decision.
In the middle of the controversy also PCB Suspended his director for international cricket operations, USman Wahla. According to Pakistani media reports, the Board of Directors led by Mohsin Naqvve took disciplinary steps against Wahl for the “inability of early action” in the Handshake series, which overshadowed a high -ranking meeting.
