India pointed out Pakistan to a potential flood, but stressed that the warning was reported more through diplomatic channels than the Indus water commission.
It is the first known official contact between the two countries since the four -day conflict between them in May.
“On August 24, 2025, India reported India warnings against diplomatic channels rather than through the Indus Waters Commission, as required within the Indus Waters contract (IWT),” said Foreign spokesman Shahfqat Ali Khan on Monday (August 25, 2025).
He reaffirmed that India is obliged to fully comply with all provisions of the contract.
In the new Delhi sources, India said she had shared a flood warning in the Tawi River with Pakistan for “humanitarian reasons”.
The day after the terrorist attack of Pahalgam on 22 April 2025, India took a number of repressive measures against Pakistan, which included the introduction of the Indus Waters contract from 1960 to “Abeyance”.

Previously, the reports said India had contacted Pakistan to share information about possible floods.
The post quoted official sources and said India pointed out Pakistan of a possible large flood in the Tawi River in Jammú. The Indian High Commission in Islamabada passed warning on Sunday, he added.

Indus Waters, mediated by the World Bank, has managed the distribution and use of the Indus River and its tributaries between India and Pakistan since 1960.
Flood warnings from India come when Pakistan is evidenced by one of its deadliest monsoon rains, with the number of death 800. The National Disaster Office (NDMA) warned against heavy rains in most parts of Pakistan until August 30, 2025.
