The Indian Men’s Under-19 team had a virtual meeting with batting great Sachin Tendulkar ahead of the Super Six decider against Pakistan in the ongoing U-19 World Cup.
England booked their place in the semi-finals after posting a 65-run win over New Zealand on Friday, while Afghanistan also advanced to the last four with a 191-run win over Ireland. As a result, the India-Pakistan clash on Sunday effectively turned into a knock-out battle, with only one team from Group 2 progressing to the semi-finals.
“In what was an invaluable experience, the next generation gained insight and insight into the important ingredients of success and longevity in an ever-evolving sport, not just technical skills and staying fit, but also the importance of staying focused, disciplined, humble and rooted for success,” the BCCI wrote on its ‘X’ account on Friday.
BCCI also shared photos of the entire Under-19 team along with the support staff – head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar, bowling coach Sunil Joshi and fielding coach Subhadeep Ghosh – with Tendulkar in the background. Former Indian cricketer and head of cricket at the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE), VVS Laxman, was also seen in the pictures.
